Illuminating Our Lives

American poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti wrote, “Poetry is the shadow cast by our streetlight imaginations.” There are many shadows in these dark, cold days of winter. This Sunday, let us celebrate the light casting those shadows by ushering in the New Year with verse. Members of our congregation will share poems—some original, some written by others—that have touched them, that have made them laugh or made them cry, and that have brought some light into their lives.
