During the Congregational Relationships Team’s work on our covenant, we began reading and studying Nedra Glover Tawwab’s book, Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself. We found the book to be an easy read and helpful in our goal of improving and supporting interpersonal interactions. We will be offering a book reading group for a series of three 90-minute consecutive sessions.
Our spring session has full registration and we will have more opportunities to join sessions in the future, including a fall session. Registration for the fall session will begin in August.
Now is the time to start reading – if you cannot easily get a copy of the book, the Relationships Team will have copies available in the Commons on Sundays, and we can order more through the church.
If you have questions or need help getting a copy of the book, please contact, please contact congregationalrelationshipsteam@uucch.org
Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself
by Nedra Glover Tawwab (Author)
“Healthy boundaries. We all know we should have them–in order to achieve work/life balance, cope with toxic people, and enjoy rewarding relationships with partners, friends, and family. But what do “healthy boundaries” really mean–and how can we successfully express our needs, say “no,” and be assertive without offending others?
Licensed counselor, sought-after relationship expert, and one of the most influential therapists on Instagram Nedra Glover Tawwab demystifies this complex topic for today’s world. In a relatable and inclusive tone, Set Boundaries, Find Peace presents simple-yet-powerful ways to establish healthy boundaries in all aspects of life. Rooted in the latest research and best practices used in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), these techniques help us identify and express our needs clearly and without apology–and unravel a root problem behind codependency, power struggles, anxiety, depression, burnout, and more.”
