After a long musical career in other denominations, Ken Ewan became UUCCH’s music director in 2001. Ken built a vibrant music program deeply rooted in UU values, fostered musical connections with other UU communities, served as choir director for the Service of the Living Tradition at the 2009 General Assembly, and often stayed late to tidy up and lock doors.
Although he retired in 2013, Ken has remained a vital part of our community as both a church member and Music Director Emeritus. In addition to directing the handbells, singing with the choir, and serenading us with his saxophone, his involvement has included the Committee on Music Ministry, Leadership Development and Nominating Committee, Humanist UUs, Worship Committee, the Board, and occasionally leading services—and that’s only a fragment of everything he does here and elsewhere.
The Board thanks Ken for his remarkable and ongoing commitment to UUCCH!
