At our last two Board meetings, we discussed the idea of changing the format of the Board Recognition.  The overall feeling was that monthly recognitions were getting too rote to the point where the impact and importance were getting lost.  We did not decide that recognition wasn’t important at all, but rather it was too commonplace.  It was becoming simultaneously an expectation plus the idea I once saw on a bumper sticker: “You’re unique…just like everyone else.”  We wanted to avoid eventually reaching a point where someone would receive a Board Recognition just for walking through our front door.

What we decided is to stretch out the Board Recognitions from a monthly to a quarterly schedule.  This would, we felt, give the recognitions more of an impact while continuing our recognition process.

And so, beginning in March, we will begin our quarterly Board Recognition for those who contribute to the life of this vibrant church.  In addition, our quarterly recognitions will also feature some information (aka advertising) about those we recognize.  If, for example, a group is being recognized, some information about that group will be posted in the Commons area for folks to find out a little about that group in addition to the Board’s recognition itself.  This will add an extra layer to the Board Recognition.

Who will be our first quarterly recognition recipient?  Well, you’ll just have to wait until March to find out.
