Last Week in Renovation (Week 5)

So much has happened at the construction site during the last two weeks.

There is a new roof!!

The weather cooperated, the materials arrived on time and the workmen started soon after the sun peeked over the horizon.

As of Saturday afternoon (11/7), the trusses were in place and the plywood had been nailed over them. The underlayment and the ice and water barrier were installed. The roof is ready for the application of the shingles. Rev. Margret took photos on Monday, 11/9 that showed the bundles of shingles in place, ready for this week’s progress. The truss and roofing phase went like clockwork. Inside the sanctuary, the bracing and structural supports have been removed. At this time, the interior of the structure is closed to weather damage. Additional photos have been added to the Google Album for you to see.

The Task Force continues to make decisions needed for securing township approval. Audio engineers have presented options. Sylvia Barclay and the Arts & Aesthetics group are finalizing floor and window shading options. A&A will publish a congregation-wide survey looking for your input about the future uses of the Commons. Please complete the survey so we have everyone’s ideas included.

Finally, questions about the renovation should be sent to Ed Fox or the Task Force at renovators@uucch.org. This is the way to have your concerns addressed. Thank you for your support.
