To our Congregation,

We ( the search committee) were unable to find a suitable match in our first round. The work of the search committee was to find a good candidate that would minister well here. So far that has happened, and we’re discerning what serves us all best next. We started this process with 19 candidates. We then held 7 video conference calls. We followed that up with three neutral pulpits.
Then we submitted our choices to the UUA.

Recently (within the past week) the Ministerial Search Committee voted on a candidate whom we believed would be a very good fit as a settled minister for our congregation. Shortly thereafter we learned that this candidate decided to go elsewhere. At this point it appears we have no other viable candidate and after having met (via Zoom) with UUA representatives, we are faced with the prospect of going into a second round of search, seeking developmental minister, contract minister or another interim minister, which of course is for the Board of Trustees to decide.

Trust me when I say that the MSC was totally surprised and overwhelmed by this information. After our meeting this past Monday night we felt more energised and ready to continue into the second round with the same kind of determination that we first started this journey with.

This Sunday starting right after our church service the MSC will hold a brief Q & A in the sanctuary for you to talk with us so that you will have a better idea what our next steps are going to involve.
