Testimonials

"I longed to have discussions about race which would help me to learn and grow. I was so lucky to be able to do that with Beloved Conversations during this past year. In this community of seekers, I found a safe place to talk about race and prejudice in the larger society and in myself. In our group there were interesting, caring and thoughtful people from a variety of backgrounds. In our journey we explored racial and ethnic issues in a deeper way than I had done before. Being part of Beloved Conversations has helped me to increase my understanding of racial and ethnic issues and to grow as a human being. I am grateful that our church provides opportunities to explore issues of social justice together in this way."

" 'Love is the spirit of this church, and service its law.' These words of our covenant are integral to what defines us as UU. Together, our church has made a huge impact in the community through service. We have planted trees, built houses, cleaned parks, adopted pets, and fed the homeless. We do this because like our first principle, we believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every human being."

"How enriching it has been to include people of diverse faiths and cultures in my beloved community! Discovering consistency in core truths of various faiths reinforces my own beliefs. Witnessing others’ adherence to strong value inspires me to live more in accordance with my values. Stepping outside of my like-minded circle brings my cultural and religious biases to light and offers an opportunity to be curious and open rather than judgmental. Through listening and learning I’ve concluded that we are all members of one human family, trying to figure it out in our own ways. With open heart and open minds, we can embrace our similarities, respect our differences and help grow peace."
